I would like to estimate levels of contraceptive use during postpartum period for Kenya. I need to use the calendar data to be able to achieve this. I kindly request for the 1998-2008/09 KDHS calendar data.

Kindly advise me how I can obtain the KDHS calender data.

I would be most grateful for your assistance.

Following is a response from Senior DHS Data Processing Specialist, Noureddine Abderrahim:

The calendar data for the DHS surveys are included as recoded variables in the distributed data files. Check Section W82 starting on page 98 of the DHS Recode Manual.

For whether or not a calendar is used in a survey, you need to refer to the questionnaire used in that particular survey. The questionnaire is in the appendix of the final report of the survey.

You may follow http://dhsprogram.com/data/Access-Instructions.cfm to get information on how to access survey data files, and http://dhsprogram.com/data/Using-DataSets-for-Analysis.cfm to get some information on how to analyze the data.
