Can you let us know:
• Which survey you are using (Include country name and year)?
• Which data files you are referring to?
• Which software you are using (Stata, SPSS, R, etc.)?

If you are trying to match a Table in a final report, please also indicate which table and which estimate you are trying to match.

Following is a response from DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

DHS surveys include interviews with all women age 15-49 in the selected households. It's definitely possible for the sample to include two (or more) pregnant women in the same household, although it probably doesn't happen often.

Regarding the 2017 Philippines DHS data, there is a discrepancy in the answers when we cross-tabulated the variables "avoid smoking" and "smoke cigarettes".

The title of your post is "Treating Datasets with Multiple Pregnant Women in One Household". Your question is about smoking. In the future, please try to match the title with the question so that other users can more easily search through posts.

I have looked at the PR and IR files for the Philippines 2017 survey. In the IR file I find v463a, which has the label "smokes cigarettes". I cannot find a variable with the label "avoid smoking". Please identify the variable.
