Dear DHS experts,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am currently using the DHS methodology to construct the wealth index on STATA. I have been trying to use the SPSS codes provided on the DHS website but I am struggling to do the conversion from SPSS to STATA codes. I was wondering if there were any do-files available to perform the factor analysis using the DHS methodology. I have been browsing on the internet for some time and found different codes, but I would rather trust the DHS methodology.

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards,

Nicolas

Dear User,
DHS does not have Stata code for the wealth index. You may be able to find equivalent code from Population Services International (see http://www.psi.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Wealth-Quintil e-Guide.pdf). However, DHS has not confirmed that the PSI code is actually equivalent.

To further clarify: DHS computes the wealth index using CSPro, and SPSS, not Stata
Thank you for your post.
