Several users have already raised this but I could not find an answer: would DHS be willing to share the code that is used to calculate child/infant/U5 mortality rates as presented in the DHS reports?

I know there is this document http://dhsprogram.com/pubs/pdf/DHSG1/Guide_to_DHS_Statistics _29Oct2012_DHSG1.pdf, but would it be possible to get access to the code to reproduce the same rates?

Apologies in case I overlooked a message containing a response to this question already.

Many thanks.

Dear User,
Can you please give an example of a country you are working with? Please reference, Table number, survey, report and page number.
Thank you!

I am also interested in code to recreate under five mortality rates, specifically for the Nepal 2011 DHS.

I would like to match Table 8.1 on page 113 of the Nepal DHS 2011 Final Report.

Would DHS be willing to share the code that created this table?

Thanks for your help.

Dear Liz,

Many thanks for your reply. It would be very helpful to get the code. The mortality rates I'd like to replicate are for

Country: Tanzania
Round: DHS 2010
Report: Final Report available at http://dhsprogram.com/pubs/pdf/FR243/FR243[24June2011].pdf, page 118, table 8.1.

Please let me know if you require any further information. Thanks.

Dear User,
You may want to take a look at the link for this thread in the forum. http://userforum.dhsprogram.com/index.php?t=msg&th=142&a mp;goto=305&S=7851a94ea7821f25a29136e97ed110e9#msg_305
I think it will provide some guidance along with the Guide to DHS Statistics. http://dhsprogram.com/pubs/pdf/DHSG1/Guide_to_DHS_Statistics _29Oct2012_DHSG1.pdf.
Thank you!

Morning

I am requesting a step-by-step STATA Do-file on how to compute infant and child mortality rates. I am using the the Angola Malaria Indicator Survey 2011(AMIS) but I am not arriving at the same figures as reflecting in the AMIS 2011 report.

I have went through the discussions/explanations made on the DHS forum but (being a beginner on analysis) I am still struggling to use the information successfully. I have also familiarised myself with the procedures as stated in the Guide to DHS Statistics (pp 90-94).

My email address is jacobm@statssa.gov.za

Dear User,
Here is a response from one of our experts, Mr. Trevor Croft:

We don't have Stata do files for the calculation of infant and child mortality currently available for distribution.
