Dear DHS team,

I am working on the DHS (2018 and 2012-2013) and MIS (2021 and 2015) Mali data and I have checked all the variable contained in those datasets.
In order to perform the analysis needed for my study, I'll need a variable indicating the town of residence and in the aforementioned datasets I have found the (v026) na - de facto place of residence variable that seems to be exactly what I could use but there are no observations.

I would hence like to know if there is a way I could access that information and what is the necessary procedure.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Bests regards,
Jessica

Following is a response from Senior DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

If a variable label includes "na", for "Not Applicable" that means the question for it was omitted from the questionnaire. The decision to omit the question (and variable) was made by the country, not by DHS staff. The data were not collected.
