Along with adding new data for men, IPUMS DHS just added new samples from Jordan, Nepal, and South Africa, plus the latest (2017) survey for Pakistan. IPUMS DHS now includes 156 samples from 38 countries in Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia.

To download data from IPUMS DHS, just log in with your regular DHS login information. Select just the samples and variables you need, in your preferred format (CSV, SAS, Stata, or SPSS), to download and analyze for your research project. Variables have consistent names and codes across countries and survey years. Even without logging in, you can also use the IPUMS DHS website (www.idhsdata.org) to see which variables are available in each sample for each unit of analysis (women, children, births, men, and household members) and learn about each variable (codes and frequencies, meaning, comparability issues, universe, and survey text).
