Dear DHS forum users,

We would like to select brothers from the DHS (and AIS) and use their information on age, socio-economic status, health status, and other variables.

What would be the best way to select brothers aged 15-49 years from the DHS data?

One way would be to select based on household headship, so son or daughter. Only if this works depends on who the household had is (should be mom or dad in this case).

Another way would be to use the maternal mortality data and select women with more than two alive sons. Only, how can we link these men to the PR, AR and MR files?

We are searching for the most 'waterproof' way to get as many brothers as possible. If someone could share a script (preferably R) that would also be very very helpful.

Thank you for your time and help!
