The Afghanistan DHS final report was released Feb 2017. The MMR is 1291 and the IMR is 55. The country level discussions including putting these figures into the global context shows that the MMR is over estimated and the IMR is under estimated.

In order to report to SDGs, Afghanistan needs these estimates fixed. Have you faced such a situation in any country in the world with DHS?? What is the escape strategy from such a situation??

Please kind provide specific information to be fed to the strategic level.

Some options have been proposed so far are:

1. Amputation
2. Adjustments
3. Re-interview of households
4. UN estimates based on statistical modelling
