If you look at your weighted frequencies for each recode variable you are using in your analysis, you will see the labels for missing and NOTAPPL.

I am doing a study on the determinants of HIV seropositivity among women in Malawi using the MDHS 2010.My outcome variable is mothers HIV test result which would be expressed as a dichotomus variable (Positive or other).My first question is can the individual recode dataset be well suited for my study? I also came across the variable s1317 in the same dataset.Is it okey to use this variable as the outcome variable(HIV SEROPOSITIVITY)? Your assistance will be highly appreciated.
